Around 350,000 international students immigrated for pursuing higher study in Germany in the year 2019. Non-EU students need a visa before travelling to Germany. An international student looking for full-time academic studies or German language courses for studies should apply for a Germany student visa.

·         International students whose admission is not yet confirmed at the higher education institution can only apply for a prospective student visa. The initial validity is for 3 months. Once the admission is confirmed this visa can be later on extended further for 6 months.

·         If in case, admission is confirmed, students can apply for a student visa which is valid for 3 months. This visa can be converted to a residence permit valid for a maximum of 2 years.

·         If the study course is not fulfilled or discontinued in between then the residence permit is liable to be revoked.

 

Documents required for National Visa Application

After you’ve filled the application form for the Germany National Visa, collect all your documents. To fulfil the Germany study visa requirements here’s a list of documents.

·         A valid passport along with the passport-size photos.

·         Proof of Health Insurance

·         Evidence that you have funds enough to survive during the academic programme. You can provide evidence that you’re able to meet the cost of education and accommodation by opening a blocked account and depositing an amount of 10,236 Euros.

·         Academic records- Marksheets and certificates of qualifications.

·         Proof of the English language proficiency- TOEFL and IELTS.

·         A certificate of enrolment is the most important document required as a proof of a qualification for admission to higher education.

·         The letter of acceptance from the higher education institution for the applied program

·         Curriculum vitae and a cover letter

·         A certificate showing the scholarship amount granted, if any.

The fee for Germany student visa application is 75EUR which must be e-transferred on the name of the Embassy in home country. The application of visa process may take 6-12 weeks for completion in case you’ve applied for a long stay. So, it’s best to apply for a visa as early as possible. Even though the confirmation of admission is pending, international students may apply for a prospective student visa.
