Wooden Floor Sanding and Polishing
Polishing
and sanding are important for timber floors because it totally changes how the
wood looks and how it feels. The finishing makes the wooden surface smooth and
pleasant to touch. The procedure involves three main stages: preparation,
sanding, and polishing.
- Preparation
● Staples, tacks, and nails are
removed or punched down. The glue used to secure coatings need to be removed as
well.
- Sanding
● We use 36, 24, or 80 coarse-grit
papers to flatten the floors. After gritting, an orbital finishing machine is
used to provide the final finish.
- Polishing
● After sanding, the
floor is vacuumed and coated with solvent-based polyurethane or other
water-based products. We apply three coatings of each material to make floors
look beautifully polished.
Floor Sanding & Polishing
If
you are looking to sand and polish the marble floors; look no more. We will
help you out in this course too. Marble sanding and polishing requires
different techniques; here are the steps to follow to make the floor shine.
- Sanding
● We start with wetting the surface of
sandpaper and marble and begin sanding with 220 to smooth out the surface, 400
for small blemishes, and 600 for anything else.
● We progress through the gits
reaching up to 2000. At this point, marble looks highly polished and
blemish-free.
● We use a marble sealer to apply with
a rag for final touches.
- Polishing
● For polishing, we start the
crystallization of marble which means the marble gets treated with chemicals to
bring out the shine.
● In the last step, we seal the floor
with a good quality sealer to extend its life and to prevent it from cracks and
chips.
With
these three easy techniques, we transform the look of your home to make it even
more attractive. If you want to make your house look welcoming, we suggest you
get floor sanding &
polishing done at least once a year.
