Storage tanks are containers that can hold liquids as well as matter in gaseous state. It is used as a reservoir to store materials. The storage tanks provide two major usages. One is to provide volume for storage and other helps in the distribution process.

 The acid storage tanks and chemical storage tanks are usually cylindrical in shape with floating roof. Some are perpendicular and some are parallel to the ground.
