Can you cancel your Alaska Flight?

Cancellation policies for Alaska Airlines may change depending on the type of fare you've purchased. Saver fares, while budget-friendly, have strict rules - you can cancel within 24 hours of booking (if at least 24 hours before departure) and receive a 50 travel credit if canceled 14 days in advance. It’s feasible to cancel your Alaska flight.

Other fare types offer flexibility with restrictions. Nonrefundable tickets won't give you money back, only for future travel.

Costs for canceling flights also differ. Refundable flights have no cancellation fees and will refund the full amount. However, for most other flights, after 24 hours of booking, you won't get cashback but can receive credit instead.

Changing flights during check-in can incur fees ranging from $25 to $50.

Rules for Alaska Airlines Cancellation Policy

  • Cancel your Alaska flight before 24 when you book Alaska airlines flight.
  • Also, if you got a main or first-class ticket more than 24 hours ago, you change it within 24 hours without paying extra but watch out for higher prices or taxes). Unfortunately, if you got a Saver fare at least 24 hours before take-off you can't change it, you can cancel and rebook it within a day of booking.
  • Got a refundable ticket? You can ask for your money back online or by talking to someone from customer service.
  • You're in luck if you don't go for the Saver fare because any other kind of ticket can be changed or canceled until the flight leaves. If your ticket isn’t refundable and you want to cancel, at least you'll get credit for another flight.
  • There's some good news if you decide to cancel your Saver fare at least 14 days before the take-off - a travel credit worth half the fare (and all the taxes and fees) will be yours.
  • Want to make changes on the same day? During check-in, pay $25 to $50. But when you have MVP Gold or MVP Gold 75k status with Alaska Airlines then you don’t need to worry - you don’t have to pay the fee.
  • As for award tickets, as long as you tell them before the flight, your Mileage Plan miles will be back in your account.
