Nowadays, there are various paper tapes available in the market. These paper tapes are in high demand due to their usage in various industries, such as painting projects. The biggest dilemmas arise in situations where you need to focus on what type of tape is to be used in which scenario. Washi paper tapes have their origins in China. Chinese Washi paper tapes are more prominently used in painting industries.

Washi paper tapes are extremely colorful and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They are brightly colored, ultra-thin, low-tack masking tapes produced from Washi papers. They are attractive and can be used for a variety of painting purposes.

Applications of Washi paper tapes:-

·         Interior painting projects – Since Washi paper tapes are extremely useful for interior and exterior painting projects, they are commonly referred to as painter’s tapes. They have moderate adhesion and cohesion properties and are used in walls, windows, bricks, ceilings, concrete, stucco, wallpapers, and fresh paint.

·         General purpose Painter’s tape – Washi paper tapes are commonly used in interior painting projects and can be removed easily without the hassle of traces, residue, or damage. Since its inception, Washi paper tapes have made paintwork easy. Washi paper tapes ensure that the paint lines appearing on the walls are clean and even. Since these tapes are more reliable, they can be applied to the most difficult surfaces where there is a chance that the tape may leave a residue. But apparently, the residue is not glued to the uneven surface and it appears as it is painted. This feature appeals to the painters to use it as a painting protection tool.

·         Multi-Surface Painter’s tape – Washi paper tapes are designed to be used on multiple surfaces, consisting of walls, trim, glass, metal, and wood. As already mentioned, it can be used even on rough surfaces. It doesn’t leave any residue after being removed. It also has good adhesion properties.

·         Rough surface Painter’s tape – Washi paper tapes, if used on a rough or textured surface, require stronger adhesion, so that it doesn’t fall from the uneven surface. Fortunately, it has strong adhesives that don’t come out once it is stuck to the surface and doesn’t leave any residue when removed.

·         Outdoor Painter’s tape – Washi paper tapes are used for outdoor painting surfaces to prevent a portion of the paint from getting exposed to direct sunlight. Exposure to UV rays from the Sun may cause damage to the paint, hence it is advisable to cover the paint with Washi paper tape after the painting job has been accomplished.

·         Sensitive surface Painter’s tape – Paint applied to sensitive areas or delicate surfaces needs protection from external agents like UV rays. We also use Washi paper tapes for that purpose. It protects touch-ups and finishes applied to smooth or slightly textured surfaces.

·         Delicate surface Painter’s tape – It is produced for use in freshly painted walls, wallpaper, and faux finishes. It is the right match for solvent-based and water-based paints and renders easy and clean removal processes without leaving any residue.

·         Precision line Painter’s tape – Intricate patterns and designs can be obtained with the help of Washi paper tapes. It has a characteristic barrier that helps avoid paint bleed and achieve sharper lines.
