If we talk about Maharashtrian wedding rituals, they are very elegant and graceful. People mostly prefer daytime to celebrate their wedding functions and all start after successfully matching the horoscope of the bride and the groom. It is the responsibility of the family priest to match both the bride and the groom compatibility. If half of the stars matched, this indicates the bride and the groom is eligible for marriage. After everything sorted the elder finds the auspicious date and time for the wedding. Bhandari community also belongs to Maharashtrian culture and Bhandari Marriage also has the same rituals that play a chief role to complete their Bhandari wedding. The fact cannot be denied that Indians celebrate the wedding functions very religiously. A lot of fun and joy is connected to the whole ceremony. From inviting the guest to the reception party, each custom adds magic to the wedding.

Kelvan: It is a small kind of get together which is held at the bride and the groom house. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to join the extensive meal.

Sakharpuda: It is also known as engagement ceremony which performs before the wedding. The groom mother offers a saree, jewelry, green bangles, and a sugar packet (sakharpuda) to the bride which symbolizes her acceptance in the groom’s family. After an engagement, the wedding date and time is officially announced. 

Haldi: The married women make a paste of turmeric and oil, additionally added rose water. The yellow color needs to wear on this day. The paste is applied on the bride and the groom face, hands to enhance their beauty. After that, the bride and the groom get a holy water shower. Both families command the bride and the groom as not to step out of the home after this ceremony.

Sankalp: The bride maternal uncle brings her to the mandap. After that, the bride and the groom exchange flower garland and everyone shower them with turmeric dipped rice symbolize a token of blessings.

Windup: Simple and graceful, vibrant yet colorful - a Bhanari Marriage is fully loaded with traditional rituals. The Bhandari wedding is all about enjoying the small things. The wedding is completed by inviting friends and relatives.
