What does the term Fiance Visa actually mean?

Basically, a K-1 visa is a visa generally issued to the fiance or fiancée of a United States citizen to enter into the United States for the purpose of marriage. A K-1 visa requires a foreigner to marry his or her U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days of entry into the United States, or they must depart the United States. This type of visa allows the visa applicant to enter the U.S. one time to marry an American citizen.

Process for applying for K1 Visa Process-

-Before petitioning for a K-1 Visa, a couple must have seen each other face to face sometime within the 2 years preceding the filing of the petition. It is imperative to have proof of having met face to face.

-The American must file a fiancee visa petition.

-After the petition of has been received by the U.S. Immigration Service and proper fees collected, they will examine your evidence and run background checks.

-Once a visa request of has been approved by the U.S. Immigration Service it will be sent to the National Visa Service for approval and then to the U.S. Embassy where the foreigner applicant is living.

-The foreign fiancee must be cleared of any contagious diseases that would threaten the U.S. population and be interviewed and approved by the U.S. Embassy.

Requirements for a K-1 Visa-

-The couple must be of legal age to marry and both must be legally single and must provide proof of the termination of any and all previous marriages (Certificates of Annulment, Certificates of Divorce, or Death Certificates of former spouses).

-The American Sponsor is required to show that they meet the income requirement so that their fiancee will not be a burden on American tax payers.

-Both life partners might be required to present certain documents, for example, birth certificates, passports, pictures together, and other records to demonstrate they are qualified to wed.
