Understanding The Reasons Why Many Hairs Grow from One follicle
The hair on the skin of
some people appears to be too dark. This is more likely because more than one
hair is growing from a single or each pore or follicle. This pili multigemini
condition can be a big embarrassment for women because the hair on their legs
looks too visible.
Women don’t like this
hairy situation and find it to be disgusting. Many of them wish to know why
they are getting multiple hairs in one follicle, and are looking for some
long-term or permanent solutions to get a smooth skin. We have tried to answer
all those questions in this blog.
The Mechanism
Ideally only one hair
grows from one follicle, but that is not the case with some people. Each hair
follicle has papillary layers, and the hair shafts grow from the papillary tips.
As an exception, the hair shaft in some people branches out due to the
splitting of tips, thereby causing multiple shafts to prop out of single pores.
Some of the main causes of
this hair conditions are -
- Hormonal fluctuations - Some women may have
had normal hair growth all their lives, but may notice this condition when
the hormonal activity is high during puberty, menopause, or pregnancy.
·
Skin conditions - Such as blocked hair follicles or infection, skin cysts,
ingrown hair etc.
- Multiple follicle damages - Maybe something is
wrong with the hair removal method that you are using regularly. You may
stop that removal method for sometime to see if it helps to reduce or stop
the condition.
- Genetic condition - Maybe the condition
is hardwired in your DNA and is passed on through to you from your
ancestors.
The ideal ways to treat the condition
- Tweezing: It may work but you
can imagine the pain that you will have to bear while punning out multiple
follicles from same pores. Although it is effective, we do not recommend
it.
- Laser Hair Removal - This procedure is
comparatively much painless and is feasible for treating the multiple hair
condition, but you better check first if it works well for your hair and
skin type
- Electrolysis - This is another good
option as you could get permanent results. The drawback of this method is that
it is consumes a lot of time, and you will need to repeat the process in
multiple sessions.
The Health Concerns
Even though this multiple
hair condition does not bother you in your everyday life, it could cause
blisters and acne because of regular shaving or any other method that you are
using. If you see any such infections, we recommend you to get it checked by a
dermatologist to prevent the worsening of condition.
When to use IPL?
IPL hair removal works the best when you run the device in the growth phase rather than waiting for the follicles to mature and grow. Trimming before IP usage will also help to get the desired length. It could be the ideal solution of women who wish to say goodbye to unwanted hair growth.
