Of course, mass protests led to Puerto Rico's Governor Ricardo Rossello's resignation, but some real facts are still hidden, let’s face it. There was news abroad about the Puerto Rico governor's resignation after mass protests, and finally, the news was true about the resignation of Ricardo Rossello, let’s see more so that the true story can be discovered. It is important to mention here that Puerto Rico Governor Rossello’s resignation was backed and supported by celebrations in San Juan, which you may already know.
Gone are the days when Puerto Rico's Governor Ricardo Rossello declared that he had resigned from his governorship due to mass protest. Hence, what was the actual story behind the resignation of Ricardo Rossello? If you can remember the US territory with mass street protests that continued for many days, and finally, Ricardo Rossello was left but no choice but to submit his resignation.
Did he resign sooner than later as the last resort? The fact of the matter is that Mr Rossello resigned as the last resort. This is evident from the fact that he first refused to leave his office, but it was only later that had to take this step due to the increasing & continuing protest in mass. In the beginning, he announced he would continue his governorship at least until 2 August, but he then resigned on 27 July, let’s see more.
The idea of an orderly transition
Irrespective of the fact that he was in favor of the idea of an orderly transition, and therefore he wanted to resign until 2 August he was forced to leave his office on 26 July. It so happened that a group text message scandal became the center of public condemnation with the strong demand for his resignation forthwith without even allowing for just a few more days until 2 Aug.
As a result of the above situation, he had to abandon his kingdom of governorship on 26 July. Not only did the text message scandal lead to his resignation but also two top officials who had to resign as well on the same day. The leaked messages were not legally allowed for someone holding such an honorable and respected position as a governorship.
The actual revelation in the leaked messages
The actual revelation of the leaked messages was about comments that were immoral, homophobic, profane, & sexist as well as more than anything else that might run through your head at the moment. The chat was very long consisting of many pages. The chat was between 11 male allies who chatted in groups with each other including the governor.
Thus, 880 pages of exchanges were challenged by the public leading to mass protests against the governor and his allies. As I mentioned above, two other people had to resign as well. The leak became public on 13 July followed by mass protests until his resignation on 26 July. In San Juan, the mansion of the governor was surrounded by protestors for many days, and the protest ended with the end of Ricardo Rossello’s resignation.
