Installation of Coriolis Mass Flow Meter Sensors
A Coriolis mass flowmeter uses the Coriolis force principle to modulate the oscillation of a vibrating tube by modulating the fluid mass flow. Generally, a Coriolis meter consists of a mass flow sensor and a transmitter. The Coriolis meters are usually expensive. If the customers receive the flow meters, they must pay attention to how to install them in order to get the best installation and measurement accuracy possible. This is a brief overview of the problem with installing a Coriolis meter.
Position of liquid measurement
It is recommended that the gas held in the pipeline of the low flow coriolis flow meter be released and emptied before installation as this type of installation is typically used for liquid measurements.
Position of Gas and Steam Measurement
For the measurement of gases (e.g. steam), the inverted installation is recommended. This way, the liquid that may be stored in Coriolis Mass Flow Meters can be released and emptied.
High Viscosity Fluids & Liquid-Solids Measurements
The Coriolis Mass Flow Meter should be installed in a flag-type installation vertical to the horizontal line.
Flag-type installations are recommended for measuring suspension liquids as well as double-phase liquids containing both liquids and solids. It is essential to empty the liquid left in the measuring pipeline after the measurement for liquids that solidify easily when their temperatures change, and liquids with high viscosity. In spite of the flag-type installation, any liquid measured will not be affected by its accuracy. It must flow from the bottom to the top in order to be measured.
Coriolis meter installation in micro-size
Small Size Coriolis Mass Flow Meters have a small flow range, while the accuracy requirements are high. It is therefore necessary to install a stable mounting plate and bracket. The mounting plate and Coriolis Mass Flow Meter must be installed completely flat without any space. If not, adjust the balance with the level bolt.
The following tips will help you install a Coriolis Mass Flow meter:
1. Coriolis Mass Flow Meters' measuring principle is based on the controlled generation of vibration. As a result, the installation location should be as far away from the vibration source as possible. The installation pipeline needs to be stable as well. If vibrations are inevitable, then the Coriolis Mass Flow Meter's connection should have the same axis as the connecting pipeline. If the vibration source is inevitable, then the hose connection should be used. If you buy the Coriolis Mass Flow Meters, pay attention to this. The unnecessary additional force will have a negative impact on the measuring accuracy.
2. If the installation of the throttle device is required, such as the flow control valve, then the installation must be installed at the export of the Coriolis Mass Flow Meter. The Coriolis mass flow meter cost is not very cheap, so we need to take care of the flowmeters.
3. The cut-off valves should be installed at the entry and the export of the Coriolis Mass Flowmeter. And it is a benefit for the first-time zero point calibration after the installation.
4. Coriolis mass flowmeters should be placed away from a pump's exhaust port to avoid fluctuating flow measurements. Pumps that are too close to the flowmeter may cause the flow measurement to fluctuate.
5. For the measurement of high-temperature liquid, and the heat preservation is required, the insulation shell and the heating pipe must not directly contact with the sensor of the Coriolis Mass Flow Meters. 6. The measured liquid should be at a suitable flow state. If the flow state of the liquid is not suitable under the natural environment conditions, then an external improvement is needed. By regulating the fluid temperature (heating/cooling temperature), it is possible to make the current fluid flow at the right time.
7.Direction of Installation: Please ensure that the direction of fluid flowing through the pipeline is the same as the direction on the Coriolis Mass Flow Meter nameplate.
8. The serial number of the sensor and the transmitter should be a one-to-one correspondence. The change or replacement may cause the measurement error of the Coriolis Mass Flow Meters.
