Discover TikTok Shop this Holiday Season
When TikTok Shop launched last September in the U.S., it changed how people shopped and discovered brands and products. TikTok Shop seamlessly transitions people from content inspiration, to product discovery, to purchase, all within the app. We call this discovery e-commerce.
TikTok Shop offers a place for our community to be inspired by items shared by creators they love and trust, as well as their favorite brands – and even brands they have yet to discover. Since officially launching in the U.S., the number of people shopping on TikTok Shop every month has nearly tripled. Discovery is central to what we do at TikTok, and I love that on TikTok, any creator, merchant, brand, or product can become a huge hit.

People come to TikTok to be inspired, connect with communities of interest, and learn from people all around the world. This week, we brought together a group of merchants and creators in New York who are at the forefront of transforming commerce with TikTok Shop to share learnings on their success.
I was joined by Stormi Steele (@iamstormisteele), founder and CEO of CANVAS Beauty, and Annie Leal, the founder of (@ilovechamoy), along with creator Steven King (@Btypep) for a panel discussion on how TikTok Shop is fueling the growth of their businesses and helping them reach new audiences. Some of my favorite takeaways from our panelists included:
- "When you lead with authenticity, and you lead with your customer and community first, you have no choice but to elevate your brand." - Stormi Steele, on what she's excited about doing on TikTok.
- "The content journey for me was really interesting: I was really shy at first [but] I started to realize the audience really responded to the authenticity of being an owner and a founder." - Annie Leal, on how she started her journey on TikTok.
- "For me, my journey on TikTok is always evolving. My life has completely changed because of TikTok, and that's why I'm so passionate about TikTok and all of these new product features that launch. I feel connected to the app and I've been been embraced by it, and I'm growing with the app." - Steven King, on how TikTok has impacted his growth and success.
We also talked about how LIVE Shopping is a great way for creators and brands to more closely and immediately connect with their audience. Over the past year, the number of LIVE sessions creators are hosting in the U.S. each month has nearly tripled! Stormi shared how she built an engaged community of beauty lovers through hosting LIVE shopping sessions. This year, she set a record achieving $1.5 million in sales during a single LIVE shopping session.

Discovery shopping is leveling the playing field for businesses like Stormi’s, and these types of success stories fuel us to continue building new tools to meet the needs of our amazing community.
Kicking off the Holiday Shopping Season on TikTok Shop
At our New York event, we also shared what’s on the horizon for Black Friday and Cyber Monday on TikTok Shop. This holiday season, we're excited about making TikTok Shop a place where shopping is fun, and the experience of discovering new products and brands brings people joy. TikTok Shop will offer exclusive deals, beloved brand spotlights, and unforgettable entertainment experiences.
- Brand Palooza: From November 13th to 27th, we'll spotlight top brands with exclusive product offers, like Phillips, Benefit Cosmetics, Liquid IV, HeyDude, and The Ordinary Store.
- Super Livestreams: We’re bringing the cheer with some of the biggest names and celebrities - to be announced soon - to make holiday shopping on TikTok an unforgettable experience.
- Pay with Venmo: From Nov. 30th to Dec. 2nd, we will launch exclusive holiday deals when someone selects Venmo as their payment method during checkout on TikTok Shop. For U.S. users that make a purchase for the first time on TikTok Shop, they will receive a 25% discount on purchases of $45 or more (maximum $20 off); and, for TikTok Shop users that previously made a purchase on the platform, they will benefit from a 25% discount when they spend $85 or more (maximum $35 off) by selecting Venmo as their payment method during checkout. The promotion will apply when combined with other platform discounts, too.
The holiday season isn’t only a great time for people to find new products and brands they love, but TikTok creators and brands of all sizes can get discovered and grow their business through the platform. To help sellers and creators achieve their own success, our team rolled out a number of initiatives:
- Affiliate App: We launched a tool that simplifies collaboration between brands, sellers, and creators by helping them reach wider audiences and grow sales.
- Holiday Checklist Playbook: This new resource provides sellers with practical tips to guide them through every step of their journey on TikTok Shop.
- Seller-Creator Matchmaking Events: We’re bringing top creators and merchants together in LA and NY ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to foster meaningful partnerships during the holiday season.
And as always, the safety of our platform remains a top priority for us, and we've detailed the investments we are continuing to make in the latest TikTok Shop Safety Report and our TikTok marketplace Intellectual Property Rights Report, to ensure our shoppers, merchants, and brands enjoy a secure experience on our platform.
