The feature was added last week, IIRC.

Before, in the news feed at APSense, the 2 options below the action made by a member were :

  1. Send message
  2. Add testimonial
The "add testimonial" feature was not used very often, with good reason. For most people, writing a testimonial is not something done as an afterthought, although some people have used the feature to "build relationships" by writing empty testimonials like "great profile", or write spam, yes, spam testimonials where what they wrote had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the member to whom it was written, it was only an ad with a link.

The saddest part is that some, scratch that, many members have accepted these false testimonials. I guess some of them had good intentions, were too shy to refuse it, or simply believed it would help them get more attention. "Hey ! She got 4 testimonials ! She must be awesome !"

Ok, I get to the point.

The "add testimonial" has been replaced by : "add comment".

It is an awesome idea !

When you click on it, you have 200 characters to write something to that member. So far, I've used it to :
  • comment on their funny status
  • get their attention fast
  • congratulate them
  • Talk about spammers active at that moment
It's almost interactive. The person to whom you write the comment receives a notification.  If he/she responds to your comment, you will a Private Message.

No need to go into the person's profile to click on "Send Message", unless you have something important to say that will take more than 200 characters.

Especially since, to send a message, you have to write a title and content.

I invite you to use it. It will accelerate the "building relationships" aspect of APSense.
