It should be obvious that if you can discover a problem people are having and put the solution in front of them where they can easily discover it themselves, it is going to be much more productive than trying to shove links up their nose to go visit some hype filled website.
Just insure that whatever you pick, you consider the industry average for finding referrals for anything is 2.8 per person, so the ideal plan only requires 2, not some number that is outside their reach to begin with. Since they are probably not good at selling either, your product should fit them just like it does you.
