Digital IDs are part of the digital footprint, and fraudsters can misuse them; therefore, they must be secured using cryptography technology like blockchain.

Fraudsters can use publicly available information to commit different types of crimes. There are several technologies, including cryptography, for securing passengers' digital IDs in the Digi Yatra scheme developed by NEC India.

Digi Yatra scheme requires a passenger to consent to use their biometrics to create their digital IDs. This helps them get access to VIP lounges, touchless boarding, payment solutions, e-gate access, convenient baggage drop facility, and check-ins.

However, the privacy of passengers can be compromised if fraudsters get access to the digital IDs. The IT service provider uses blockchain technology to secure the passengers' digital IDs.

Digi Yatra is a convenient scheme that can be availed by passengers to reduce the hassles they go through at airports. The scheme ensures that the faces of the passengers are used to authenticate them.

Camera sensors with facial recognition technology will help in matching the image captures with the database of digital IDs. Airport payment solutions can use digital IDs to authorize payments through a quick scan of their face. Users can approve payments through a quick scan of their face, adding convenience and security. The passengers will get personalized suggestions based on their age and gender.

Baggage drop is a facility that requires a person to show documents like a boarding pass and leads to long queues at the airport. However, if a passenger gives his or her consent for using biometrics under the Digi Yatra scheme, they can drop their baggage without any hassles.

This scheme also allows passengers to avail themselves of the touchless boarding facility. The passengers will not be required to show their documents at the boarding gate. It will be possible for the ground crew to usher in the passengers to the flight by authenticating them with the help of digital IDs.
