Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece, often referred to as the "cradle of civilisation" of the Western world and the birthplace of democracy. 

Its legacy from the classical era is evident in the city, with a large number of monuments and works of art, the most famous of which is the Parthenon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Athens airport "El. Venizelos" is the largest airport in the country, capable of handling thousands of passengers daily. There are direct flights to all airports in the country and to all major airports in Europe. There are also direct flights to airports in North America and West Asia, through which you can travel all over the world. It is connected to the city by bus, taxi and metro.

Athens has one Internetionnal Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (ATH)

Athens has a huge variety of accommodation, from small guesthouses to 5-star hotels. Most hotels are concentrated in the city centre, in the Acropolis area, in Syntagma, but also in the suburbs (Kifissia, Nea Smyrni), Piraeus and the airport area.

Athens is a very busy city, so the most reliable means of transport is the metro, whose network serves most of the city. Other means of public transport are city buses, trolleybuses, trams and the HSTAP (for information call 185). Recently Athens public transport has been integrated into Google Transit, which can make it even easier to find the means of getting from one place to another.
