When you have natural stone flooring in your home, most of the times you are worried about their look or them getting dirty or stained. But, no matter how hard you try, one fine day you will notice some kind of damage on the stone surface.

Stains, cracks, uneven surfaces, discoloration, chipping, flaking, etc. are some of the most common signs of damage on natural stone floors. This article talks about some of the ways you can repair your natural stone flooring without having to remove or replace the stone –

Honing or Re-honing –

If there are stains on your natural stone floor or any other natural stone surface, and you have tried everything to rid of those stains but haven’t got through, you could consider honing or re-honing the stone surface.

This is not a DIY job, so you will need to hire a professional service provider for this. They will mix an abrasive powder into water and hone the stone surface again. This will remove the stain, apart from enhancing the shine of your natural stone flooring.

This technique can also be used to remove scratches on the stone.

Polishing –

After re-honing, deep cleaning, or buffing, you are required to apply polish on your natural stone flooring. This will help shine the stone and give it a protective shield against scratches and stains.

If you receive heavy foot traffic on your flooring, you should get your stone flooring polished more often to maintain and protect its beauty and prolong its life.

Sealing or Resealing –

Once you have re-honed or polished your stone, you are required to seal your flooring too. Sealing creates another transparent but strong layer on the floor and gives it extra shine and strength.
