Another suggestion
Consider having a block list as well as a contacts list. Comments and subjects authored by someone on your block list won't display for you. This would allow us to filter out the blatant spammers.

I create my first group and setted it to private, may be not much visitors then, but who really is interested to discuss, will ask to join anyway. Afaik, the admins will solve the spam prob quite soon, just give them a bit time:)

Why dont you recommend this to the Administration. Unfortunately this is necessary when some people cant tell the difference between a post and an ad!
