Have you ever left an apple core lying around? What happened to it? It turned brown. Why? OXIDATION This exact same thing happens to humans. As we breathe to create energy, our body's cells produce a by-product called Free-Radicals. Rampent Free-Radical activity has been directly linked to cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Arthritis, Strokes, and can even cause mutations to our DNA. All of these Free-Radicals can reduce the body's ability to produce antioxydents (which mitigate damage caused by Free-Radicals and keep your body's cells healthy) There is no denying that our diet is the best way to consume antioxydents. The question then becomes- how can I find foods that are naturally high in antioxydents? Answer: you measure the ORAC value of a food. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity. The ORAC score of a food measures the effectiveness in the fight against Free-Radicals. The food that is highest on the ORAC chart is what is known as the acai` berry. As mentioned on my APSense page, the acai is one of the most nutritious foods in the world. Everyone knows that cranberries are supposed to be great for the heart and for our daily overall health. They are. They have an OEAC value of about 125. I know that this figure doesn't mean much because there isn't anything else to compare it to. But take into consideration the fact that you know that the cranberry is good for you because you've heard doctors and nutritionists say so. Now take into account that the acai berry has an ORAC score of 1,026. this over 8x as potent as the cranberry. Acai` is also known to be 30x as potent as red grapes. We need to be proactive not reactive with our health. A good solution is to consume antioxydents- lots of them -regularly. Mona Vie is "the premier acai blend". Along with 18 other fruits all pureed in their entirety (the flesh, skin, seed, juice, peel) you can up you daily dosage of antioxydents and enjoy a sweet, berry taste. http://www.mymonavie.com/russellscott
