That must be on the top of your mind if you are searching for a property. But if you have already bought the house, you know better. Buying a house is overwhelming. While before buying you are overwhelmed with the excitement, after buying; the finances take you by the swing. All the plans of renovations are either postponed or cancelled. So, should you keep the house as it is? Don’t you want to add a personal touch to space? Don’t you want to get rid of the old woman’s vibe from your new house?

You certainly do, and you should. But who said you have to go on full renovation spree to make a difference? Small changes can bring a big renovation-size difference to your house. Let us see how you can do that.

1. Bring the decor from the old house

Many people believe in leaving the old things behind while shifting to a new house. They either sell them with the house or donate them. If you are thinking about it too, do not make such a mistake. The small things like curtains, sofa covers, bed sheets, mats, carpet, etc. cost much and if the old things are still usable, you should use them. You can bring in some creativity and make the pillows and sofa cover out of bed sheets. Or you can stitch together cuttings of bed sheet to make a stylish curtain. Reuse as many things as you can. When you get bored of them, then buy new things, maybe till then your finances get improved.

2. Fresh flowers for a fresh start

Flowers always make you happy. They cheer you up when you feel gloomy and they deliver the loving message well too. You can either place the flower pots on the window and on the balcony, or you can put the vases on the table and by the couch. While there is no comparison with the fresh flowers, you can use artificial ones if the real flowers are too much for you to maintain. If you have a lawn outside the house, you should start with its maintenance. The front yard is your first impression and you do not want anything to go wrong with that.

3. Use the old furniture creatively

Furniture are hard to move but this is not the reason to leave them behind. If your new house is coming with the furniture, you can use the old ones creatively to decorate and as storage units. The door of the wooden closet can be removed to make it a bookshelf. The old bed can be restyled as Diwan. The chairs can be modified and placed in the balcony or can be used as the swing.


4. Use wallpapers in place of paints

Paints bring the life to the walls but good paints are expensive. You can use the wallpapers to bring uniqueness to the walls. The walls of each room of your house can tell a story of its own. The wallpaper of the children’s room can have cartoons or flowers which can be pretty fun. Use unicolor or patterned wallpapers for the living room. They give dimensions to the room and make it look spacious. The bathroom and the exterior need the paint for sure.

4. Lights that brighten up space

Lights play an important role in making or breaking the looks of the house. A proper lighting can make it look ravishing and at the same time, bad lighting can make it terrible. Place the mirrors in the correct places to reflect the natural sunlight in your house. Invest in good white lights instead of yellow ones. If your budget allows, you can buy a chandelier for that rich look. The bedside lamps and night lights are also a very good idea.
