Innovative Water & Money Saving PMO Disinfection Solutions at 2015 Dairy Show
Atlantium Technologies Ltd., global leader in UV water disinfection solutions, announced today that they will be displaying their Hydro-Optic UV technology for the dairy and food & beverage industries at the International Dairy Show, co-located for the first time with Process Expo and InterBev Process, at McCormick Place Chicago, on September15-18, 2015, booth 7667.
Atlantium's innovative technology has been instrumental in paving the way for FDA recognition of UV as an alternative to heat for pasteurizing water to FDA/PMO standards. Instead of chemicals for water disinfection UV delivers a safer and more sustainable method for dairy, food & beverage processors to ensure their water's microbial integrity.
Heat pasteurization consumes 150kW per hour, while Hydro-Optic technology uses just 3kW per hour. An example of the scale of savings that can be achieved: A US dairy installed Atlantium UV to disinfect 60 tons of cow water (a by-product of the milk drying process) daily for reuse water that needs to be totally spore-free to maintain product shelf life. Today, 80% of their daily consumption of 238,000 gallons of process water is recovered cow water, and they saved 158,000 kW in annual energy consumption.

Using Hydro-Optic UV as an alternative to chemicals guarantees that there are no chemical disinfection reactions and none of the resistant spores, pseudomonas, giardia and other microorganisms that chlorine can't destroy. “It is Atlantium's mission to enable sustainable safe water, and using light rather than chemicals to destroy harmful pathogens is more economical and better for the environment", said Mr. Benjamin Kahn, CEO of Atlantium Technologies, named “Hero of the Environment" by Time magazine. “Every day Atlantium's UV technology makes over 10 million gallons of PMO compliant pasteurized equivalent water, saving the dairy industry more than 30,000 KW a day." Atlantium's patented technology leverages fiber optic and hydraulic principles to harness the full power of UV light, effectively recycling photons for better disinfection using much less energy. Integrated software, driven by sophisticated algorithms, tracks the key variables affecting UV dose in real time, automatically adjusting so that a measured minimum UV dose is being delivered all the time. The system automatically generates regulatory reports, verification and proof of compliance that meet PMO and FSMA standards.About: Atlantium Technologies Ltd., founded in 2003, provides highly regulated industries such as dairy, food & beverage, pharmaceutical and aquaculture, as well as municipalities, with UV (ultraviolet) based solutions, taking water bio-security to levels never before achieved without chemicals. Atlantium's Hydro-Optic system is field proven and validated to the highest regulatory standards including EPA and FDA. The company has an international customer base with installations all over the world. For more information, go to www.atlantium.com.
