Colorful items in FFXIV

As we all know, there are colorful items in FFXIV. In this article, I want to introduce pink items, blue items, green items and purple items for FFXIV players.

In my opinion, green items have better armor, while pink items have better stats. In many cases, I would rank pink items as the preferred items to own. Besides, pink items have random stats, which means if you find some pink ones, you can use them for perfect stats to upgrade your class. Moreover, all the pink gears that I have so far are much better than the green gears that are dropped by monsters. Sometimes, you may find some junk items which are more useless compared to whites. Though many green items have good stats to the class, they are not as beneficial as the pink one does.

Green items are quite rare. Pink items have better stats than other regular version of gears. When I ran the preferred drops in group, some of my teammates told me only green items were consistent and pink items have random beefy stats. If you want pink items, you can use FFXIV Gil to exchange them for you!

There is a heavy armor that only GLA, WAR, PLD, MRD, LNC, DRG can use, and in that category there are two subcategories of stats, some meant for tanking and others for DPS. LNC and DRG get priority on the DPS with heavy armor, but right now the greed system isn't working properly.There really isn't a set in stone armor type. There is a armor that different classes can wear, but within those are all sorts of types of armor shown by what crafting classes can repair them. BRD gear is mostly leather, but some pieces are cloth or even require a carpenter. This isn't like other games where all Mages wear cloth, paladins wear plate and rogues get leather.That would mean BLM, WHM, BRD, WAR, PLD, MNK, DRG. But there are already achievements for relics that SMN and SCH can use as well, so maybe that bit of information is not up to date.Relic Weapons which are only available currently for the original 1.0 Jobs. I just keep hearing people talk about plate armor or scale armor. Sometimes this is in the item name, but not always. I'll assume people call it plate armor when only GLD and MRD can use it, etc. You can buy FFXIV Gil and then buy these items from other players.


I got some greens that replaced my White Mage armor set :( (items dropped from last dungeon) - I would have thought the Blues would be it till raids got implemented.The only purple items are the relic weapons in game at this moment. No armor/jewelery slots can drop purple. The raid gear will probably be relic quality though I bet when the 24 mans are released.I wish they don't do it like that, keep blue and only use Purple for relic purposes. For example the Ifrit weapons are all Relics and you can find their real world mythological counter part. If every raid and boss drops a relic then it's not really rare or special anymore.

Blue item is the best items available, the only Purple items are the Relic weapons, we don't know if they will use purple for raid items when they release 24man but hopefully not.
