Money is the Number 1 Cause of Stress in America
This just in.... According to a survey conducted by Harris Poll for the American Psychological Association MONEY is the number 1 cause of STRESS in America!.... Money has been the top stressor since the APA started conducting its annual survey in 2007.
But....I bet most of knew knew that.. especially if you are like most people and are surrounded by overwhelming debt.
Take a look at the results of the survey:
1. Financial worries: 64 percent
2. Work: 60 percent
3. Family responsibilities: 47 percent
4. Health concerns: 46 percent
Worries about money effects people in many ways. Worry and stress can take a real toll on your health. Fighting, scrabbling and bickering over money has led to many divorces. Money troubles not only effect people with low income..... it can effect anyone no matter what their income level.
A couple who seem to have everything going for them suddenly has health issues or perhaps one gets their full time job reduced to only working part time.... if that was where the health care benefit came from there will now be the additional cost of buying their own health care... just one example of how quickly things can change.
One of the best ways to handle money stress is to get emotional support. That may be easier said than done. It seems that talking about money trouble is a real taboo subject to most people.
If your suffering from overwhelming debt as a lot of people are the best thing that you can do is to get that debt situation under control. Take charge of your money troubles and it is best to start NOW rather than putting it off till a later date.. that will only make it worse.
The first step to getting control of your finances is to admit that you have a problem. The second step is to get a plan to get your situation under control... It may have been easy to get into debt... and it probably took some time to get there... I will be the first to tell you right now that it won't be easy getting out of debt.. and it will indeed take time. Please don't let that deter you from taking action..... the rewards for getting your overwhelming debt under control will be numerous.... starting with your health.
