HTC One E8 review

The HTC One M8 is definitely one of the best smartphones on the market, but the two things that put off potential customers are the high price and the esoteric dualUltrapixel camera on the back.
HTC have remixed the One M8 a little to come up with the HTC One E8. Although it retains most of the features of the M8 it replaces the M8′s camera with a conventional 13 megapixel one and the case is now brightly a coloured polycarbonate rather than the exquisitely crafted metal of the M8.

The camera doesn’t appear to be particularly special – it seems not seem to have optical image stabilisation and only has 1080p HD video capture – but it certainly is a lot more conventional than the Ultrapixel one in the M8, but as with the M8 there’s a 5 megapixel one on the front as well. Internal memory is only 16GB plus a microSD slot, so the E8 lacks the 32GB option that the M8 has.

As far as we can tell, everything else is identical or very similar including the 5″ 1080 x 1920 pixel screen, the 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 2600 mAh battery, LTE support, Android 4.4 and all the usual features. Available colours are Polar White, Electric Crimson, Maldives Blue and Misty Gray (which looks like it has gold highlights).
Pricing is a key factor here, and there are whispers that this could be substantially cheaper than the One M8. HTC say that the One E8 should be available from June onwards in certain countries in dual-SIM or single-SIM configuration depending on markets.
