About Exciting Ways to Lodge in South Africa
South Africa has become one of the hottest tourist destinations on the planet. People from all countries and financial situations frequently visit this country. Though many South Africans speak English, tourists still get a very authentic African experience. There are many exciting ways to lodge in South Africa, whether a traveler seeks a rustic experience or wishes to at least temporarily live in the lap of luxury. Some accommodations include personal butler service.
Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town are just three of the major spots to lodge in South Africa. Options include luxury five-star tents and more primitive tents complete with safari experiences. Johannesburg, as one of the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the world, has all the chain and local hotels one would expect from a major city. Pretoria and Cape Town also don’t lack for accommodations of all types. Because the country has become such a wildly popular destination, even more rural areas such as Kruger National Park offer dozens of ways to lodge in South Africa.
“I love South Africa because it feels like I’m in Australia and Africa at the same time,” said Carol Jones of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. “Cape Town is often compared to Sydney, and I’d have to agree in some ways. It is comforting to hear the English language but also be exposed to so many different dialects and cultural experiences while taking a holiday in South Africa. I’ve stayed everywhere from the Hyatt Regency in Johannesburg to the Lower Sabie Rest Camp in Kruger National Park.”
John Chan, an entrepreneur from Los Angeles, California in the United States, echoed similar thoughts regarding ways to lodge in South Africa.
“I’ve been pretty public about my love of Kruger National Park,” Chan said. “It is both an exotic and comfortable experience for travelers of all abilities and ages. However, I also enjoy some of the bush lodges and earth lodges. A favorite that comes to my mind is at the SabiSabi Private Game Reserve.”
Virtually all lodges and other types of accommodations in Johannesburg and beyond offer air or ground transportation, or representatives can make the appropriate arrangements. The famed South African hospitality has made Jones, a single female traveler, feel comfortable going everywhere from inner city neighborhoods to isolated spots in nature.
“I always am cautious when traveling alone, but I have to say South Africa is home to some of the most outstanding travel professionals in the world,” Jones said. “Obviously it is important to check people’s reputations and references. Don’t ever throw caution to the wind, especially if you’re traveling alone. I say this for the single male travelers as well. But really, I think South Africa is one of the safest and most exciting places in the world for single travelers to visit. You really can’t beat the cultural experiences along with the financial value, even if you want that five-star lodge experience in South Africa. If you’re thinking about going, then go. You won’t regret it!”
