Who are men of ice ?

If the folk belief is true, it must be cold for three days in May . These three days are very often characterized by  ice saints Pancratius , Servatius and Bonifatius .

Pancratius' name day is on 12 May , and the popular saying quotes: " If Pancratius is sun -baked, sweet wine in the cellar comes . " He is the patron saint of children, young plants and flowers.

On 13th of  May Servatius' day  comes,  and he protects you against rheumatism , pain in the legs and fever, frost, against poliomyelitis in animals and anti-mouse and rat scourge. The saying goes: "After his day we  should not be afraid of the cold."

The last Ice man is Bonifacetius , whose day is on May 14th .

In the past, in the days when godovali these three saints , burned by orchards and vineyards , in order to protect the salt and frost . When was the Day of St. . Boniface past , they can be relieved . It is still considered that a danger of frost is less when the days of ice saints have passed.
