In Satya Yuga, Daksha is the Son of goddess Brahma performed a yagna with a craving of undertaking Lord Shiva. He was irate on the grounds that his girl Sati had wedded Shiva against his wishes. Daksha invited and welcomed all the gods to the yagna except Shiva and Sati. But Sati without any invitation reached in the yagna. As she was uninvited she didn't get any respect their. Moreover, Daksha also insulted and offended Shiva. Sati was unable to bear her father’s insults toward her husband,, so she submitted suicide by entering into the fire. When Lord Shiva found out about her demise he got incensed. He went to the spot where Daksha was performing his yagna and banished all the place. Daksha was killed by Shiva's ganas.

 Lord Shiva then conveyed Sati's body everywhere throughout the world in a state of wild sadness. At the appeal of all different divine beings, Lord Vishnu separated Sati's body into 51 pieces with his Sudarshan Chakra, so that Lord Shiva could come back to his rational soundness and at the end of the day consume his obligations. Different parts of Sati's body fell at different places which got known as Shakti Peethas. At all shaktipith, the Goddess Shakti is joined by Lord Bhairava (a sign of Lord Shiva).
