Although there are many ways to create backlinks by networking blogs I am only going to share the six backlink techniques that has been very effective for my blogs. Swapping links, commenting on other blogs, writing articles, posting in groups on Facebook, using Facebooks new technologyNetworked Blogs and posting on Twitter.
The 6 Backlink Techniques
- Swapping Blog Links With Other Bloggers
- Commenting on other blog sites (leave a link to your blog)
- Writing Articles and leaving a link back to your blog
- Being active on Facebook groups that are related to your blog
- Using Facebooks new technology the Networkedblog.net
- Post on Twitter
So what is a backlink? Before we can discuss how you can use them to generate traffic we have to understand what they are and how they work. According toWikipedia:
"Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web page. Inbound links were originally important (prior to the emergence of search engines) as a primary means of web navigation; today their significance lies in search engine optimization (SEO). The number of backlinks is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (though other measures, such as PageRank, are likely to be more important). Outside of SEO, the backlinks of a webpage may be of significant personal, cultural or semantic interest: they indicate who is paying attention to that page." Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backlink
If you noticed on my blog Networking Together I have added a few categories to my list to the left that help out bloggers. This is called swapping blog links with other bloggers and creates a backlink for their blogs. All I did was contact the blogger and asked if they would like to swap links. They added my blog link to their site and I added theirs to my blog. The more bloggers I help the more visitors I'll receive and vice versa.
Why?
Because search engines like Google and Yahoo give the top spots to sites that are getting a lot of visitors or the information is relevant to the searches. This is a big part of Search Engine Optimization or SEO. The process of SEO is to improve the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines.By swapping links with others tells Google and Yahoo robots that your blog has relevant information to crawl so, therefore moves your blog or website up the rank. But, yes there is a but, you have to make sure that the blogs you are swapping links with are relevant to the information on your blog. If the blogs you are linking to are not relevant Google may see your site as spamming or performing a process called "Black hat" and won't crawl your blog. They may even ban your blog from their search engines. If you want to know more information about Black hat please read Unethical SEO Technique To Gain Top Search Engine Rankings.
Another way to create backlinks is to comment on other blogs that are relevant to yours. The comment doesn't have to be a book but just enough to show the blogger you appreciate what the blogger wrote. When you comment, make sure that you leave your blog link in your signature or invite them to visit your blog. This will create a relationship with other bloggers. The more you comment the higher your blog will rank in the search engines and the more traffic you will receive.
I am not the greatest writer in the world but I will attempt to write articles while leaving a backlink to my blog at the end of each article. This process is simple but you need a lot of content for people to read. The best way I found to find content is to write articles that solve other peoples problems. I am sure someone has already written an article like this one but my articles may be more helpful or easier to read.
Other content I find is when I am talking with friends and family. I will use content that we discussed about in a conversation that could help another persons problem. For example: I was talking to an internet friend about how I joined an online business opportunity and quit when fear set in. My internet friend asked me "have you ever heard of Brett Favre?" I thought it was kind of odd to ask a guy If they watch football so I said, "Yeah". He explained to me that Brett Favre never stops throwing the football whether he threw a touch down or an interception. The point he was trying to make is that we can't let fear get in the way of our goals. I know this is getting off the topic but this is how I find content to write articles. I am sure you talk to friends and family every day so, it couldn't be that hard to find content unless you're unsociable. But anyways every article you write can create a back link to your blog.
Being social on Facebook groups related to your blog can also create backlinks. Their are a lot of groups on Facebook that will allow you to post a link. Join the groups on Facebook that are related to your blog and leave a comment after every comment leave your blog link. Now, I wouldn't go around spamming groups but you can ask questions or comment on other comments and leave your link. You can also start a discussion on a particular topic that may interest other group members. One of my favorites is to create havoc and people will respond. I don't know why they just do. There are other social groups but Facebook is the most popular besides Myspace.
Facebook also has a way to connect your blog to facebook so that when you make a post your Facebook friends can see what you posted. This new technology is called networkedblogs.net and you can get a more detail version of this technology from my article by going to FaceBook Creates Traffic For Blogs! This has got to be one of the best tools used by many bloggers to get blog information out to the public. It's very easy to set up and you can control whether or not you want your Facebook friends to read what you posted.
One of the newest technology on the internet that has become very popular isTwitter. I am sure you have heard of Twitter so I won't go into detail but it is nothing more than a social community that allows you communicate with friends and family in real time. You can let your followers know that you just posted information on your blog. After making a post, go to your Twitter account and let every one know that you just posted. What I do is make a snappy heading and leave my blog link. The great thing about using Twitter is that it's free advertising. But I wouldn't spam Twitter because you could get a lot of upset followers that will block you. I would tweet 3 times a day once in the morning, once in the afternoon and then again at night before bed.
Another Twitter tool to use is the retweet. Re-tweet is when someone creates a tweet and one of their followers re-post their tweet. If you re-tweet another follower they are more than likely to re-tweet your tweets. What does this mean? You receive backlinks on their profile and their followers will see your tweet giving you more traffic.
If you're looking to get more readers to your blog then create back links by either swapping blog links with other bloggers, making short comments on other blogs and use Twitter. You can also write simple to read articles that offers a solution to someones problem or use Facebook to generate traffic. Backlinks are what drives free quality traffic to blogs and websites. It only takes a few hours a day and the results are rewarding.
If you have a blog that is relevant to Networking Together then follow me or leave a comment and I will be happy to return the favor. If you're on twitter, my user name is idealadchoice so send me your twitter link and lets follow each other.
