Pigments used in the fabrication of printing inks resulting from coal tar derivatives; the organic pigments are often referred as "Coal Tar Colors", in disparity to inorganic color pigments that are consequent from the mineral sources. The inorganic pigments are classified as per the chemical makeup, like, cadmiums, chromes, and many more, whilst the organic pigments are classified by the characteristic; color. The organic pigments enlisted below are identified and classified in the Society of Dyers and Colorists' Color Index.

Types of orange organic pigments

·         06-905 DNA Orange 5

Description: The pigment, with the code 06-905 is a bright, rather opaque orange pigment with good light fastness.  It is used in some applications for replacing molybdate oranges.

Application: 06-905 is suggested for water based printing inks, air-dry industrial coatings and trade sales paints.  Owing to the poor solvent stability in some specific solvents, 06-905 is not advised to be used in baking systems. It is also not advisable to be used in plastics applications.

·         2113 Pyrazolone Orange 13

Description: 2113 Pyrazolone Orange Organic Pigments 13 is a transparent, clean and bright pigment with brilliant tinting strength.  This pigment has a fair light fastness property in deep shades / mass tone and is poor in tints.

Applications: 2113 Pyrazolone Orange 13 is advisable to be used in printing inks for metal deco and packaging inks.  In the plastics industry, 2113 Pyrazolone Orange 13 is broadly used in rubber.  In coatings, the usage is restricted for interior applications with additional utilization found in the textile industry.

·         2316 Dianisidine Orange 16

Description: 2316 Dianisidine Orange 16 is a bright yellow shade orange with fine opacity and tinting strength basically for the interior applications.

Applications

2316 Dry Organic Pigments is advised chiefly to be used in several printing applications, like, specialty inks and packaging.  2316 could also be used in chosen paint applications for interior usage where solvent resistance is not grave.  Other areas of usage could be found for textile printing and in the coloration of rubber.

·         1634 Pyrazolone Orange 34

Description: 1634 Pyrazolone Orange 34 is a bright, strong redder shade transparent kind Azo Orange with optimum light fastness. 

Applications: 1634 Pyrazolone Orange 34 is suggested for usage in several printing applications.  1634 could also be used in chosen paint applications for interior application. Various other areas of usage could be found in the coloration of textile printing and low temperature plastics.
