Ucontrol Pty Ltd in Australia has added some interesting solutions to its temperature controller range which also bridges a gap in there data recorder range with the new CMC range of paperless recorders with inbuilt PID temperature controller.  The CMC is available in 2 sizes a 96 x 96 or 1/4 DIN which is standard panel mount PID temperature controller size or 144 x 144mm.  Both models have full PID temperature controller functionality, an industrial colour touch screen display, USB ports (front or rear) Modbus RTU master or slave port, optional Ethernet and a number of input and output card slots.

The CMC99 can accept a massive 48 inputs which is colossal considering its compact size, whilst the CMC141 can accept up to 72 having a larger housing.  Standard input cards include thermocouples type K,J,R,S,B,N, 0-10V, 4-20mA isolated and non isolated, universal programmable analog inputs and volt free contact closures.  The strength of this product is either as a recorder or a PID temperature controller due to its unique modular assembly and programming structure.  As a PID temperature controller it can provide single or multiple loop control, relay, 0-10V, 4-20mA and SSR outputs.  It has an inbuilt multistage set point programme function, multiple alarms of every alarm strategy conceivable & retransmission output.

As a paperless recorder both physical input and modbus channels can be recorded to a massive 2 gB internal memory & easily extracted by USB, Modbus serial communications or Ethernet.  The CMC can be an exceptional low cost PID temperature controller and recorder solution if the complexity of the application requires the design engineer take the PLC / machine interface route with no software programming expense.
