Organic pigments refer to a broader range of chemical families which cover and encompass a broader and extensive band and spectrum of properties.  These are typically used for applications which utilize and demand extensive tinting strength and radiant and dazzling shades, while organic pigments are basically used where high opacity is required and demanded. We could differentiate three basic categories of organic pigments, which are as follows:

·         Metal Complexes

·         Azo (Mono- and Di-)

·         Polycyclic

For each and every category, classical and high performance pigments are readily accessible. Pigment performance depends on the following features:

·         The surface properties

·         Particle size

·         Size distribution

·         Chemical structures

·         The crystalline property

Red Organic pigments are of various families, such as, Anthraquinone, BONA Lake, Diazo pigments, Diketo pyrrolo pyrrole (DPP), Naphthol Lake and Quinacridone. The coloristic properties of Anthraquinone are that it is from medium to high color strength and is transparent. Its resistant property consists of good light, heat and migration fastness, good to excellent weather to fastness. The major polymers in which they are used are LDPE, PP, HDPE and PS.

Another Red Organic Pigments is known as BONA Lake. Its coloristic property is that it is high in color strength and pure shade. Its resistant property is that it is low heat, good migration and light fastness. The major polymers which are used in this kind of pigment is LDPE, PS, PP and PVC.

Third organic pigment is Diazo pigments, its coloristic property is that it attracts light, heat and is migration fastness, it ranges from medium to good weathering. The major polymers which are used by this family of pigment is PS, PVC, PP, HDPE and LDPE.

The next organic pigment is Diketo pyrrolo pyrrole (DPP). Its coloristic properties are that it is very pure, contains brilliant shade, and contains high tensile strength, extensive range of opacity and shade. Its resistant property is that it is good to light, heat and migration freshness. Red pigment shows good to excellent weather resistance. The chief polymers which are used in this pigment are LDPE, PVC, PS, PP and HDPE.

The next organic pigment is Naphthol Lake. Its coloristic property is its high color strength and pure shade. Its resistance property is migration fastness, good heat and low light fastness. The major polymers used in this pigment are PS, PVC and LDPE.

All these are major and widely used dry organic pigments which have found great usage in various applications, both, commercially and industrially.
