Smartphone Journey: From A Calling Device To Magical Genie

There was a time when mobile phones were only used for making calls. Now the scenario has changed completely, people are not just talking on the phone, they are also surfing the internet, playing games, taking pictures, transferring money, making their children learn through various mobile applications etc. In past few years phones have gone through tremendous evolvements, now this calling device has transformed into a Genie which performs magical stuff when you touch it.

This Genie is fully loaded with advanced features like music player, camera, GPS system, internet connectivity, Bluetooth, touch screen and many more; this Genie is officially known as "Smartphone". It has changed people's lives, their cultures and even their personality. It can also be considered as an integral part in their personal and professional lives.

Whenever a new phone is rolled out in the market, not only it gets closer in becoming a mini computer, but also brings some more advanced features if compared to previous ones. People are not only using Smartphones for what they are supposed to use, but also using it for passing their time on number of applications. There are several mobile applications ranging from free to paid and for every age group are available in the app market. These applications have made a phone very powerful device and we are relying on it for most of our daily activities.

In 21st century everybody has a smart-phone as it has become a symbol of status as well as style accessory. Google's operating system Android made it easier for people to buy a smartphone because Android phones are cheaper as compared to others. First, commercially available phone to run Android was the HTC Dream and it started a never ending series of Android phones. Android never thought of such big success in forthcoming years.

Some years ago we had to pay a fortune to make an international call to talk to our loved ones, now we can talk to them for free through various applications like Skype, WhatsApp, Viber etc. This is all possible today by using a smartphone with an internet connection.

Apple "the big daddy" also contributed significantly in evolution of smartphones. It manufactured "iPhone" which is a revolutionary product designed by Steve Jobs. It changed the way of using smart-phones; most importantly it brought Siri (a high performance voice search application), fingerprint access system, stylish and sleek metallic designs and high class hardware package to deliver better results.

As the number of Smartphone users is increasing, social media users are growing too with an enormous rate. Nowadays number of people using social media sites on their smart-phone is comparatively higher than the people using it on desktop PC's and laptops. So smartphone has brought a social media flood with its evolution and probably it will continue to do so in future as well.

Now we wonder how a smart-phone will look like during the next few years! For sure there will be more advanced versions available. Until then we have to wait and watch how technology transforms this Genie in next couple of years.
