4. If you are working on very low power, or you are watching a DVD so your laptop may have a way to turn off the LED lights such as following
· Power light
· Hard drive activity light etc.
5. Try to unplug the any USB drive which you are not using such as following

· Flash drives
· External USB mice, etc.

7. When you are not going to use your laptop for even longer time, put it into hibernate mode. This mode is also has the same effects as a turn off but this mode will help you to go back on your laptop just like in standby and uses little to no power from the battery.
