Ghosts, Aliens and why We have Different Perception about Them
Every person in the world found himself wondering about those kinds of questions at least once in his live. Are we alone? Are there aliens? Is there such a thing as supernatural? Are ghosts real?
The truth is that no matter what the answer you gave yourself – there is no proof you are right. There is also no proof you are wrong. Of course in the future someone may find evidences in one direction or another, but till that happen it will be considered as a "belief" rather than a "science".
Yet, unlike the other questions, the one about the existence of ghosts seems to be a little less controversial. Some people claim that this is due to the fact that too many people were exposed to real ghosts so they cannot ignore the reality. Others say it is because the big religious, which seems to be against any supernatural belief (aside of God and angles of course), claim Ghosts exist. Yes, some people might be surprise, but the truth is that most religious are living peacefully with the idea that ghosts exists. It supports their claim of the existence of a spirit which is separated from our body.
Yet, I believe that there is a 3rd possibility: The ideas about aliens and supernatural existence are quite new and only started once humanity understood earth is not the only planet and that there are things that exists but we cannot see them. On the other hand, the idea about ghosts is very old and exists in old folklores for decades. Therefore, it is more than possible that in years from now, when the ideas of aliens will become older, the question about their existence will become less controversial, just like the question about the existence of ghosts. This is unless of course, someone will find a more scientific answer by then…
Actually it is more than possible that the idea of aliens will become much more supported than the idea of ghosts, since – ghosts are spiritual creatures that their existence fits the ancients believes about unseen powerful creatures. Yet, today sciences found rational explanation to most of those phenomena and most people no longer believe in those mighty creatures, or daemons. And since ghosts are the other side of the same coin – the belief in them is also weakening. Aliens, on the other hand are biological creatures that live on other planets – their existence is more than possible according to science – and therefore, the belief in them is becoming more and more powerful as times goes by.
It seems that the belief in ghosts vs. aliens is actually reflecting the relationship between spirituality vs., science, and since today most people prefer science, it seems that soon aliens will win the battle as well.
