How I Have Begun To Love Life (My Story About Overcoming Depression)

I wanted to share a little of my story today.

For about 8-9 years I suffered massively with depression. There were times that I couldn't even go to work.

I refused to take medication, partly because I felt that I deserved to feel bad.

There was to do with the fact that I felt I had been a bad husband and was punishing myself.

Over the years I spiralled into alcohol abuse and regularly drank half a bottle of wine and 2 or 3 beers. This was on a usual night, not nights were I felt really bad.

When I felt really bad I hit the whiskey and could easily drink half a bottle of whiskey washed down with a few beers.

Why am I sharing my deep dark secrets with you?

So you get an understanding of where I've come from. So you can see change is possible.

So how did I go from this sorry state to loving life.

I decided I was fed up of feeling crappy

I actually realised that I was fed up of feeling fed up! I realised that I had to forget about the past and stop beating myself up.

Do you relate to this?

The one thing people have a habit of doing is living in the past and the thing is you can't move on until you realise this. I can tell you about until you get it, you aint gonna move on!

I realised that I need to put new information into my mind

The information that had got me to where I was wasn't going to help me get to a different destination. I needed new 'programming.'

Eveything I had learned, believed, thought and done had led me into depression and alcohol abuse. It wasn't going to get me to a good future.

I got on Amazon and ordered me some books.

I began to think about what I wanted in my future

I began to think about what I wanted in my future and then I started planning for it. Instead of wallowing in self pity, I began to focus on who and what I wanted to be.

How I Went From Suicidal to Loving Life

I hope that these three things that I have shared may help you if you are in a similar situation that I was in.

Now I'm l forward to my future and I have a plan and I am a different person than I was 18 moneths ago. I am more more positive, I am emotionaly stable and I have learned new skills that are helping me create the lifestyle I want.
