Creating goals and setting an intention
If you want to do anything in life, if you want any form of success in life, in your career, in your business, you have to set goals and intentions.
Success in any area of life doesn't happen through chance. If it did, there would be more people who are successful,.
There would be more thin people, more rich people, more happy people.
What do successful people, rich people and successful dieters have in common?
They have all created goals and set intentions.
What is the difference between a goal and an intention?
This is how I see it...
A goal is a vague thing, I want to be thin, I want to be rich, I want my own business, but an intention is something specific, something more tangible. A goal is a set outcome in the future and an intention is something that we can focus on now. Intentions are the little steps that get you closer your overall goal.
Setting An Intention
Setting an intention involves a couple of different things.
1) It needs to be specific and clear
Where your goal maybe to lose weight, your intention is specific, how much weight.
I will take myself as an example (because it's my blog ;) ). At the moment I'm heavier than I want to be, my first intention was to get to below 13 stone (82.5kg). I did that yesterday...WOOOO!
You can see in that my intention was specific and I had something to celebrate when I reached my intention.
2) It needs to be measurable
Again, using my example, I could measure it, because of weight that I had got down to. Other ways to measure your goals could be money or time for example.
You may set a business or career intention where you say I want to make x amount of pounds/dollars/euros a year.
3) It needs to be achievable
There is nothing more demotivating than setting an unachievable intention. You want to allow yourself to 'win', this can then build momentum and enthusiasm for your next intention.
Setting An Intention
Think about what your want in your life, what are your goals then set an intention that you an work towards today.
Make it specific and clear, measurable and achievable.
Most importantly, go out, take action and create the person (you) and the life you want!
