Core Zones on Zurker - Ways to use a social network.
Post to the Core Zones on Zurker
There are essentially 3 ways to use a social network.
1) Communicate with close friends and family you know in real life.
2) Share and discover with people who have similar interests.
3) Let fans and customers know what you've been up to.
At this stage, Zurker is being used mostly for #2, as not enough friends and family use it for #1, and we don't have the right tools yet for #3.
What that means is that most members who post would appreciate an audience as large as possible, and members who want to discover interesting stuff need an easy way to do it.
This is why the Core Zones are super important on Zurker.
The Core Zones consists of 12 zones within easy reach from any page on Zurker, via the Zones dropwdown menu.
Posting to a Core Zone allows you to reach an audience beyond your immediate contacts and subscribers. Even if none of your contacts is online or interested, if you post to a Core Zone you are pretty much guaranteed that other members will see your post.
Meanwhile, if you want to discover posts, going to a Core Zone will help you find fresh material quickly.
The Core Zones are reorganized only rarely. Today the #memes zone, which wasn't seeing much activity, was replaced with the #amazingzone, and the #help zone was added as a core zone. The next Core Zones reorganization will be on May 1. Until then, the Core Zones will remain fixed, providing a stable and reliable stage for your posts.
I have noticed that many posts go unseen because they are either not associated with any zone, or posted to a minor zone. Folks, if you want other members to see your posts, it makes a huge difference if you post to a Core Zone.
(Your material should of course be in keeping with the nature of the zone. Spam and irrelevant posts will be disassociated from the Core Zones.)
You don't even have to go to the Core Zones to find fresh posts. We now have #core, which is a digest of all Core Zones.
