Live in happiness
Happy couples try to remember their happy memories and try to minimize their past conflicts, by learning to manage their thoughts and their emotions.
Psychology has done sixteen times more studies on the negative aspects of life. We know more about mental illness than what makes us happy. But all this is changing.
More researches have been done on happiness since the year 2000, than through out the history of psychology.
This research allow us to affirm that:
• Happy people have better health, live eight to nine years older, have a better immune system and are
more tolerant to pain.
•
They
are more creative, more productive at work and more prosperous (they
earn on
average $ 15,000 more per year).
• They have more friends, are more altruistic and socially engaged.
• They are also more satisfied with their marriage, family and professional life.
• They express more gratitude for everything they have and are optimistic about the future.
• They face adversity with remarkable strength (resilience).
This research also shows us what everyone already knew: happiness is not in material goods, but in immaterial values. According to these researchers 50% of our happiness is hereditary:
We are born more or less optimistic. The rest comes from our environment (10%), and also from our attitude toward life (40%).
It is therefore possible to become happier and operate with our maximum happiness quotient.
To achieve this, it is still necessary to learn to manage our negative thoughts (or emotions), if you have one positive thought only, you are on the road to depression.
If you have two positives thoughts, you remain neutral. To be happy, you need a ratio of five positives thoughts against one negative thought (or emotion).
IT IS BETTER TO LIVE AS A COUPLE
Couples are happier than singles. But we can not ascertain whether the couple has improves happiness or the fact that happy people have more success in choosing the right partner to live happier as a couple. The debate remains open.
Surely, members of happy couples seems to remember and dwell more on their happy memories and tend to minimize their past conflicts, they also have an optimistic view about their future life as a couple.
They reciprocally express more gratitude and easily forgive or excuse their differences.
The happiest and more stable couples are those who communicate their love and admiration's to their partners in regular ways, verbally, non-verbally and in writing.
The qualities of intimate relationships is the largest producer of happiness: These intimate relationships
particularly refer to marital relations, but also includes relationships with family and friends.
To obtain happiness you have to have elevated goals, contagious optimism, nourish gratitude in all circumstances, goodness and humanism, practice physical exercises, consolidate work with comon sense, have a rich and satisfying relationships.
