Unlike the type of acne that a person probably had to deal with while they were going to their teenage years, rosacea acne can affect people at virtually any age but is especially prevalent in people who are over 30 years old. This problem is so common in fact that there are over 16 million people in this country alone who suffer from it. What is truly unfortunate is that many of the individuals who have rosacea acne are actually trying the wrong methods to deal with it because of an inaccurate diagnosis. By some estimates, almost 80% of the people in the country who suffer from rosacea acne do not even know what it is that they are dealing with.

This particular type of skin condition can be not only frustrating, but painful as well. Irritation and discomfort are two of the common symptoms associated with rosacea acne. What is especially aggravating to individuals who are dealing with this is that it is not a problem that is consistent, but rather something that flares up from time to time and then goes away. The first signs for many individuals that they have this particular condition is redness in the ears, forehead, cheeks, scalp, or neck. The longer that it is left untreated, the more severe that it can become. Eventually, as the blood vessels become more inflamed, invisible pimples will begin to develop.

Aside from the obvious physical discomfort, individuals with rosacea acne also often suffer from a greatly reduced sense of self-esteem and self-confidence and may actually find themselves avoiding social gatherings because they are embarrassed. The more severe the condition is, the more likely that a person will begin to see it negatively affect virtually every aspect of their daily life. Unfortunately, the cause and treatment of rosacea acne is not fully understood, but there are a number of products available that can greatly reduce the symptoms and provide a much-needed bit of relief to individuals who are dealing with it. By far, the most common way to treat the condition is the use of antibiotics. Generally taken in the form of a cream, individuals who are suffering from a milder form of the condition may find relief in this way.

For individuals who are suffering from a more severe form of rosacea acne, surgical procedures may be the only thing that provides them with relief. Generally, a laser is used to treat the blood vessels and lessen the amount of redness that a person is suffering from. It is also possible for a person to prevent flare ups by properly caring for their skin. Although it may not be possible to completely prevent all flare ups, the occurrence of these incidences can be greatly reduced if a person closely follows all of the recommended guidelines provided by their dermatologist or physician. There are also a number of over-the-counter products that a person can use to increase the healthiness of their skin and prevent this problem from affecting their life.
