Image Portrayed
Looking around APSense makes me wonder how many people on here have actually given this any thought. What kind of image to you see when you visit a profile of someone who proclaims they are a, "Social Consultant", "SEO Master", Expert {fill in the blank}, "Marketing Coach", "Trainer" etc., but when you get there they have no Experiences, no Resources, no Business Center, no Rev Pages, NOT EVEN A PHOTO???
I get invited to connect with new people every day, but I have started being a little more picky lately, in fact when I have spare time I go through my connections and try to weed out a dozen or two that don't fit.
The question is, "What is the Point?", not how many connections can anyone gather. Does it really look that good when people have thousands of them, but no personal image? Does the value of a Social Network come down to how many "Friends" you can plug into a page and never speak to?
Don't get me wrong, when I see Philippe Moisan put Video Marketing Champions on his profile I can spend a few minutes to discover that he is exactly what he portrays, a leader in that genre and worthy of the title.
But when I see someone with all kinds of self appointed accolades and nothing to back it up, sorry but I can't bite. I would rather be connected to another peer who admits like I do that they are still learning. Then we can both benefit from the alliance instead of me connecting to someone I know is just trying to sell me more "Expertise" that I don't need.
Oh well, that should satisfy the Daily Mission.
