Drinking and Driving is One Step Invitation to Death or Lifelong Imprisonment
The major cause of accidents all over the world is drunk driving. This happens because people mix drinking and driving. The drinking of alcohol or usage of any type of drugs reduces reflexes of the person and cause hearing and visibility impairment which is not good blend and which ultimately leads to accidents and loss of property as well as lives.
In 2007, 41000 lost their lives due to driving while drunk. The alcohol crashes lead to death of a person in every forty five minutes and injures a person in every two minutes. In the US it is leading cause of criminal cases. And every year more than 17000 people are convicted of drunk driving. The cost of these accidents built up to 114.3 billion dollars every year. Out of all the accidents occurring during Christmas and New Year most of them are caused due to drunk drivers. The auto accidents involving drunk drivers lead the life towards death.
Car accidents with drunk drivers cause irreparable damage to the lives of people who are either involved in car accidents or their loved ones are involved in the car accidents. The irony of such situation is that usually the person who is drunk driving survives while many innocent people lose their lives.
This can be prevented by rigorous application of drinking laws and harsh punishment to those who do follow these orders. This will ensure that law is enforced and the guilty are punished accordingly. The officers can check auto vehicles at random and check blood alcohol content level in the person who is driving the vehicle. The BAC levels are an important way of knowing how much drunk a person is.
The levels from .01 to .03 show a condition of normal person who does not have alcohol. His reflexes are quicker and faster. The level from .03 to .06 shows beginning effects of alcohol like calming, happiness, talkativeness etc. The levels of .06 to .010 shows that a person is drunk and cannot drive properly. The levels from .011 to .020 would show a highly drunk. The effects of which include behavioural changes, change of expressions and slurred speech. The level above .20 depicts the last stage of consciousness when a person is fully drunk and loses his consciousness, and has no control over his actions. This is very dangerous for both driver and other people.
