The New Way To Do SEO
Prior to the recent Google
update on Exact Match Domain (EMD), a lot of website
has gone down or rather disappeared from top search results. A lot of people
have made bitter complains while many panic on what step to take but we just
have to get one thing into our minds: EMD has come to stay. I recently wrote a
blog post about the last penguin
update on how Google intend to hunt low quality websites doing
too much to get optimized. Little did I
know that these ideas where going to go as far as being used in domain matching.
Now that, keyword stuffing,
excessive use of header tags, over optimizing images, too much use of anchor
text, exact domain match and aggressive link buildings tend to hurt your
website does it mean that all these SEO methods are gone? No friend! They still
work just that the technique to using them has changed. If you were going to
stick to these methods, you have to do them wisely. Let’s take a look at some
few tips to get you through this;
On-page
SEO
On-page SEO involves the
idea of optimizing your website from your webpage. This is where you lay
emphasis on your domain, page title, page description, Meta keywords, heading
and anchor tags, and internal link optimization. Since the recent EMD update,
it is no longer necessary to depend so much on exact keyword matching as the
Google system have been integrated to do a lot of synonymous work. This
actually means that webpages and domains don’t need to carry highly targeted
keyword phrases or domain matching to get ranked. You’re now at liberty to play
around using several keywords on your contents to avoid keyword stuffing or too
much concentration on a particular phrase and this also makes placing anchor
texts a lot easier.
Off-page
SEO
Off-page SEO involves the
idea of optimizing your website using other external link building methods. Be
warned, aggressive link building hurts so much. For the fact that websites with
high quality incoming links get favourable rankings do not mean you should build
links aggressively. It is still wise practice to gradually build high quality
links to your website. You could build links by social
bookmarking your domain, submitting
your RSS feed url, doing directory submission, submitting
articles to top article directories and putting up quality press releases.
If you follow these steps
wisely, you’d surely be in the SEO save zone and your website would surely
start to get some good rankings in search engines. Be a wise link builder than
fall victim of over optimization.
