Over 45 million Americans engage in resistance training (RT) regularly.

The incidence of injuries attributed to RT has increased over the past decade, with 25–30% of participants reporting an injury severe enough to seek medical attention.

Researchers have reported that the shoulder complex in particular has been alluded to as one of the most prevalent regions of injury accounting for close to 40% of all injuries and disorders in the RT population.

Shoulder pain in certain sports or occupations can reach 40% or higher.

Shoulder injuries are common with both competitive and recreational participants of resistance training (RT).

Injuring the shoulder is not just a guy thing.  One investigation suggests that female recreational weight training participants are predisposed to mobility imbalances as a result of training. The imbalances identified in this investigation have been associated with shoulder disorders.
