First of all you have to chose an opportunity that has a record of success and is well established in an area  of your interest. Then evaluate their management based on  integrity, honesty and history of before you join. You can do this very easily on the internet today.  Develop a personal Relationship not only with your immediate sponsor but also with the management personnel. if you like the opportunity, but not your sponsor and that will be about 98 % of the time, get out and find another sponsor you can work with. You want to have a sponsor that is interested in your success.
Remember there can be a great advantage joining a new venture when you get in from the start - But also know that many start-up opportunities will be gone within one to two years.  Let us start now with the simple 9 guidelines I am using:

1. Meet and Great Your new candidate.
2. Invite them to start a close working relationship with you.
3. Give them more then one invitation as some are reluctant.
4. Offer to help them and actually do what you are saying when they ask.
5. Advertise for them until they have their own downline.
6. Show them Free resources that work and teach them how to use them.
7. Always give more than you receive.
8. Only work with those individuals that are responsive and work.
9. Drop those that take advantage of you or, are not active.

In time your team will have a small but responsive team. And this team will grow.
