The Power of Shaklee - July 12, 2012

Shaklee Pure Performance Athletes are London Bound

SwooshWe’re excited to announce that a total of eight Shaklee-powered athletes will be competing in the 2012 Games in London! Shaklee Sports Nutrition™ is powering our elite athletes and fueling their dreams from start to finish, so that they can train longer, recover faster and perform better to make their record-breaking achievements possible.

Shaklee would like to once again congratulate our Pure Performance Team athletes who have qualified for the Games in London this summer, and introduce you to four more members of our team.

Caryn Davies, Rower, is a two-time Games participant who holds both silver and gold medals. Along with her team, Caryn broke the world record in May 2012 in the preliminary heat at the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland. Always one to push herself, if she ever feels like quitting, Caryn relies on her team. Says Caryn, “Sometimes I realize the ridiculousness of spending hours and hours a day sitting on my butt traveling backwards. But I also know how special it is to have teammates who count on you and care whether or not you show up every morning. That’s what keeps me coming back.”

Eleanor Logan, Rower, took home the gold in Beijing in 2008 and won a silver medal in the pairs competition at the 2012 Samsung World Rowing Cup II.

Both Davies and Logan were on the women's eight team that brought home the gold in Beijing in 2008, and they will be defending their gold medals in London in a few weeks! Watch for them on July 29 and August 2.

Corey Cogdell, International Trapshooter, is headed to the Games for a second time, and for Corey, making history is par for the course. At the 2008 Beijing Games, Cogdell became the first American woman to medal in the sport of trap (shotgun) shooting—a mere two years after she began competing in 2006. Corey loves the Cinch® product line and has lost 15 lbs† so far on the program. Cogdell competes on August 4.

Keith Sanderson. Rapid Fire Pistol Shooter, is a U.S. Marine and two-time Games participant whose final score at June’s qualifying competition tied a world record and secured his spot at the London Games. Sanderson’s swift ascent in the sport of men’s rapid fire pistol shooting included a fifth-place finish in the 2008 Games, and culminated in 2009 when he was the top-ranked shooter in the world. A devastating forearm injury in 2010 cost Sanderson his No. 1 ranking, but with the 2012 London Games on the horizon, and a current standing as the No. 3 men’s rapid fire pistol shooter in the world, Sanderson has redemption in his sights. Sanderson competes August 2-3.

† Results not typical. In a preliminary clinical study of the Cinch Inch Loss Plan, participants on average lost 15.4 pounds and 6.6 inches over 12 weeks.

As we gear up for the 2012 Global Conference in Las Vegas, and the announcement of our $10,000 Cinch® Transformation Stories Contest winner, we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Kiefer whose inspiring story reminds us that there are many types of transformations that can happen when you build a Shaklee Business.

When I first heard Shaklee was rewarding people for sharing transformation stories, I was excited because, boy did I have a transformation story… a life transformation! When I was introduced to Shaklee at an Enfuselle® in-home event, I wanted to make a change in my health and in the health of my family and thanks to Shaklee products we’re experiencing a better quality of life.

The next transformation was a change in attitude. Shaklee gave me permission to dream again, starting with the completion of my first, of many, dream boards. I had three beautiful and healthy young boys at the time, but had always dreamed of adopting. It was a distant dream when I was introduced to Shaklee but by the power of the dream board and good old fashioned Shaklee positive support and encouragement, within months, that dream started to become a reality. In January 2010, we traveled to China, with our three boys, to bring home a beautiful, amazing three year old little girl who had survived major open heart surgery and three years in an orphanage. She is an inspiration to us all and has blessed us in so many ways.  Because of our positive experience with Kai’s adoption, we decided to take a larger leap of faith and in October of 2011, we adopted an older boy with special needs. My Shaklee family has been most supportive of this giant undertaking.

Shaklee has opened my eyes to what is important and meaningful in life and I started looking at what else I wanted for my family and future. My husband, Michael and I decided we want to simplify, slow down, and spend more time with family. We want that Shaklee lifestyle. Michael expressed an interest in going back to teaching, which he left for a higher paying job to enable me to stay home to raise our children. After watching him work so hard, traveling 60 miles into Manhattan to work and back, for the past 15 years, I decided I would like to support him in his dreams as he’s supported me in mine.

In August 2011, I moved to Florida with four of the five kids to get them started in school. Michael remained in New York to sell the house, and complete our second adoption. It has probably been one of the hardest transitions of my life—moving a high school and middle school student to a new state and the two little ones being away from their dad for 10 months, all while merging a new person, Jamar, into our family. As we start to settle in, I know we are moving in the right direction.

With Shaklee, we went from the “rat race” of a life we were living, to living and sharing the dream on serene, sandy beaches.
