Life Learner
I couldn't quite find the right "category" for this article.
I consider myself a "life learner." Some people get to a point and they feel like they have nothing else to learn. I find myself learning "new" and different things on a daily basis.
I volunteer in a classroom with 1st graders. For those who are "non-Americans" that is a very basic elementary grade. My...how things have changed. The way they teach
Math and the English Language. They are using hand motions to help pronounce the different letter combinations. Sometimes I find myself wondering how these children are so different than we were when we were in grammar (elementary) school.
We learned the 26 letters of the alphabet, we didn't need hand motions to help us pronounce the letters. And Math...the wording of some of the problems boggle my mind! I'm an adult, these children and 5, 6 and some 7 year olds. The steps and procedures they have to go through just to get a simple answer! I'm just amazed by the new concepts! There's so much work involved. Much more than when I was a youngster in grammar school. Wow!
Not only in that 1st grade classroom, but just watching some TV, I'm learning new phrases and idioms, some I'm still trying to understand and figure out. LOL
These are just a few of the reasons I consider myself a "life learner."
