Get out of your mind and into your life using ACT.

ACT means Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. You don't say A-C-T, it's called like the word "act". It was created by Steven Hayes and others.

I discovered ACT last year, while going through a rough time, through a book titled "Get out of your mind and into your life". Here's the first paragraph that you'll find on the back cover:

Get ready to take a different perspective on your problems and your life - and the way you live it. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a new, scientifically based psychotherapy that takes a fresh look at why we suffer and even what it means tpo be mentally healthy. What if pain were a normal, unavoidable part of the human condition, but avoiding or trying to control painful experience were the cause of suffereing and long-term problems that can devastate your quality of life? The ACT process hinges on this distinction between pain and suffering. As you work through this book, you'll learn to let go of your struggle against pain, assess your values, and then commit to acting in ways that further those values.

I have been reading a lot of positive thinking books throughout the years. Still, I was struggling against my inner demons. The fight is not over yet, but thanks to ACT, I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The main point of the approach is to accept your emotions instead of struggling to push them away, so that you stop overthinking and start living.

I will let you know how well it goes. So far, so good.

God bless you!
