Do You Ever Wish You Could Step Back In Time to Sunday at Home In Brooklyn New York?
Do You Ever Wish You could step back in time to the days when all that was on a young Bride’s
mind was how to please her husband?
What special food or dessert could she make that would bring a smile to his face? Well I still feel
that way after a lifetime of years of special moments shared and small pleasures which have
created enough memories tosustain me thru any hardships I may encounter.
Yesterday I thought about the many happy times we had spent around the kitchen table in Brooklyn
NY at my in-laws home where every Sunday a huge box of Italian Pastries were picked up and we all
gathered around to enjoy those wonderful flavors which are no longer available to us here in the state
of Florida unless you happen to live near Tampa or another big city where Brooklynites have migrated
and opened up shop however it still seems not to taste as good as it did back then. I learned to love
Espresso coffee because I so wanted to have my Father-In-Law, Toddo, like and accept me. In the
beginning it was so bitter and strong that it is difficultto imagine that I ever came to love it as I do today
but that just goes to show that when we share things they become precious to us.
Well I started digging thru my aged and yellow food stained box of cherished recipes and found the one
for Pasticciotto’s and made a surprise treat for my husband Phil. The expression on his face was priceless
as he took his first bite and the memories came flowing back to those days in Brooklyn where we were
surrounded by people we loved and shared so much of our lives with. What I wouldn’t give to step back in
time and enjoy a wonderful Sunday around that kitchen table once more with my sisters and brothers-in -Laws
just one more time. But I do have the memories and we relive them often as weshare them with our children
and grand children on a regular basis.
We invite you to stop by our place where you too can share in many of the stories of the way life was growing
