Yes, Organics are expensive, but............
Yes, Yes, I’ve heard the
complaint about organic foods being expensive. Yes, you can go on the “cheap”
to the grocery store and buy the same foods for less money and get more of it.
I don’t have the answer as to why organics are more expensive, but I do know
that buying organics works for me. I can go without a night out at a restaurant
or the newest gadget or the newest clothing line. I live simply and I eat
simply. My most important “needs” are my health and having a home to live in
surrounded by pets and family. I CAN live without all the other things. Also, I
know what’s being put in my foods when I buy organic. I don’t need all the
chemical additives and toxins in processed foods. Also, the amount of sodium in
processed foods is astronomical! With all the chemicals in the foods and other
products people buy today, it’s no wonder we haven’t stopped embalming people
when they die! There will be enough chemicals in a person that embalming will
not be needed!
That said, the most
important reason I buy organics despite the price (which has actually gone down
in recent years) is because of my health. What I don’t spend on medical bills
and prescriptions I spend on organics. That’s the key for me – I don’t spend my
hard earned money on medical bills or prescriptions. Did you get that?! I spend
less on my health because of eating properly!!!!!! I will give you a big
example – my partner is on dialysis because of a life-long kidney disease. We
have been eating organic for 20 years – the last two my partner has been put on
dialysis (and that was because of stress). Whenever my partner goes to the
dialysis centre for blood work and monthly checkups, there is never a problem.
As a matter of fact, several of my partner’s prescriptions have been cut or
eliminated. CUT OR ELIMINATED!!!!! Why, because my partner’s doctor says,
“Whatever you are doing, just keep it up. I wish all my patient’s blood work
was like this.”
One way that we keep the
price of our food down is gardening. As I mentioned previously, anyone can
garden, anywhere. You don’t need a big plot of land. Also, most veggies and
fruits can be frozen for future use (i.e. Winter) so you can store your
abundance in the freezer and have fresh veggies and fruits all year round even
if they are out of season. Because, I don’t know about you, but I’m not paying
$10 for strawberries in the winter that come from Brazil or wherever! If you
don’t like to garden, see if your local grocery store purchases fruits and
veggies from a local farmer. You won’t get out of season foods, but at least it
will be cheaper because it’s local. No extra charge for traveling. It never
ceases to amaze me that people will complain about extra charges to take a
flight, but that’s almost exactly what they are paying for when they buy
asparagus from Peru or fruits/veggies out of season.
Next, not only organic
foods, but an organic household and pets, too!
