So your in a home based business, now what?

The obvious, you need to grow your business. So how do you do that?

In the 90's it was easy. You put up a website and you made money -- end of story. Well, it's not so simple now. Why? Because now the internet has become flooded with web sites as everyone and anyone tries to cash in on the internet. With millions of web sites online and thousands being added every day, just creating one or joining one won't make you a dime. Anyone that says just join and the money will... with 0 work is full of it.

So what can you do to be successful online in a home based business?
To start you should try to recognize or determine what's currently available and what is actually working. Here is a sample list of some things available online:
1) Opt in advertising via email.
2) Traffic exchanges, like banners etc.
3) SEO (search engine optimization)
4) Blogging.
5) Pod casting.
6) Video marketing.
7) Social Bookmarking.
8) Social media - Facebook, Myspace etc...
9) Link exchanges and back linking.
10) Classified Ads
11) Paid Advertising like Google Adsense.
12) Social networking.
13) email list building.
14) Offline marketing.

To note, while #1 and 13 look the same they are quite different. #1 is paying or getting access to someone's list and will not help. Which has almost always been used and abused to the point where the list is worthless. #13 will definitely help you build a home based business as people who have signed up for your list are interested in what you are doing.

#2 I believe to be a waste of time as you trade legitimate exchange with many people who know ways to cheat the system (while there are a few exceptions, it's a waste of time to try and figure out who is honest (Co & then each individual exchangee).

#3 SEO is important for a home based business, but the best way to accomplish it is by doing the rest of the items listed below it.
