The Money Is NOT In The List


Yes you read that correctly, “The Money Is NOT In The List”.  “But how can that be” you ask?  All you ever hear is that “You need a list”, “Without a list you can’t succeed”, “The Money Is In The List”, and here I come along and tell you that this is not true?Have you been lied to?  Am I telling you a faerie tale?  Are the gurus feeding you a line or am I talking through my hat?  Most importantly why would I make such an obviously radical claim?  Unless of course I had some information that you do not.


Let me explain… There are literally thousands of list generating programs or systems out there for you to choose from.  Some are free to join or use but most have a cost involved, for a few of them that cost is quite a hefty sticker price.


These systems or programs purport to help you create lists, to  be part of a growing list or teach you how to generate your own lists.  But ask yourself, “to what end?”  How can a list make you money?  And did I not claim that “The Money Is NOT In The List?”


List building can be either an integral part of a business or as with the aforementioned systems and programs or it can be a business of its own.  The whole idea of a list is to give you the ability to contact a motivated group of people with an offering of a product or service that you can provide to them for a fee!


Note the last word “Fee”, as this is all about money!  Money made from paying customers. You can have a list of over 20,000 people but if they are not looking for what you have to offer, you have nothing.  Let me tell you I have been there and done that and in the end I could not even afford the T-shirt!


The money is in the people who buy what you have to offer and that will not be everyone on your list, as a matter of fact most of the people on your list will not buy.  It has nothing to do with what you are offering them, it is simply the fact that they do not know you.


Find those people who will buy by build a relationship with them that will engender their trust, but that's a topic for another lesson.
